Why ADIRSO?
Next Meeting.
Our next meeting is on September 8th 2011 doors open at 6.30 for 7-00pm start and is a road safety evening (suprise) we shall be covering Teaching Tyres Safety in preparation for October which as you will all know is Tyre Safety Month.
This presentation was first shown in October 2009 and has gone on to many groups around the UK from a Hastings college on the south coast to London, Leeds, Edinburgh and an association in Sterling, Scotland. It has been seen by hundreds of ADIs and students across the UK and from the feedback has proven to be extremely popular. One instructor even said he stopped a fitter from a national tyre company from fitting an out of date tyre to his car. If he had not seen this presentation two weeks before he would not even have known about it.
Our aim is to try and get instructors to teach this subject to their pupils properly because if we each, US the ADIs, can get this across to just 10 pupils a year then 45,000 instructors will teach 450,000 pupils across the country per year. That means in ONLY 10 years we will tell 4.5MILLION people how important the tyres are on their car. Just imagine if they go on to tell only one family member or friend this message how many lives you will have had a chance to help save. Put simply ,who will teach them? Not their schools, the police, mum or dad are unlikely to know and most certainly not the DSA as mostly they do not even know or understand about what you will get to see. The only one left may be the coroner!! So please help us try to save this from happening.
Unfortunately we have invited the DSA to attend for this desperately important subject but they have no one available.......so it is yet again down to resposible instructors to get the message across. The sad part of it is that it was one of their own examiners who came up with this presentation in the first place, because he was so concerned by the minimal knowledge of new and existing drivers out there.
This is a perfect chance for you to see this presentation if you missed it the first time around and also to get up to date with the new lesislation due to come in, if you saw the original version. In an attempt to help get the message across you are invited to bring a pupil with you and provided they produce their provisioinal licence at the door they will get in for free.
Instructors will be given free teaching aids to take away for use on their lessons.
As you can see from the items posted in here, only the best people come to talk you. the members. It is felt desperately important to get in the right calibre of speakers as this is what the modern ADI,PDI & RSO is looking for, along with all the latest information to keep themselves up to date.
In the past we have covered First on Scene - Quite often we may be at the scene of an accident or just passing and not know what to do, frequently we are more afraid of doing the wrong thing. Well we saw a guide as to what we could do and should not do before the experts get there. It may just be to hold a victims hand, keep them warm and offer comfort at a time of stress. This is not meant as a First Aid course, that is not possible in two hours but a good guide to old fashioned common sense that may one day save a life, maybe someone you know. .
ADIRSO Meetings.
ADIRSO is run by ADIs and RSOs for ADIs, PDIs and RSOs and has no outside influences or pressures trying to divert it or pressurise it. It is there purely to provide the latest information and ideas to keep its members up to date and informed.
You will see more on the About Us page, some details of the meetings and speakers who have come and presented to the membership in the past. Take a look it really is very tempting.
